The conceptual design of Gridify.io
Gridify.io: an alternative to Linktree, Linkin.bio, and Beacon, but with a more interactive and enjoyable experience
For every product I have the opportunity to work with, I always begin by focusing on the conceptual design. This approach helps me grasp the bigger picture of what we're aiming to build. The same applies to Gridify. This initial note captures my earliest ideas for something I describe as an 'Alternative link in bio, but in a bento grid format.
Why We Build What We Build
The Need for Personal Digital Spaces In an Era of Abundant Social Media Platforms
In today's digital landscape, there is an abundance of social media platforms, each serving various purposes. Social media is no longer just a place for content consumption; it has evolved into a multifaceted tool.
People use social media for personal branding, storytelling, business endeavors, and myriad other reasons. As a result, individuals and companies alike yearn for a digital space they can call their own—a space as personal and customizable as their own home.
However, to carve out their unique online identity, people and organizations must undertake the daunting task of building their digital "home" from scratch.
The High Cost and Effort Involved in Website Building
The cost of creating a website is often prohibitively high for many. Two primary factors contribute to this high cost:
The Cost to Build and Maintain the Website: This includes expenses related to domain registration, hosting, web development, and ongoing maintenance.
The Complexity of Website Development: Crafting a website entails grappling with a myriad of intricate details, such as:
Structuring the website with the right number of pages.
Determining the sections for each page.
Designing layouts for each section.
Crafting content for each section, and much more.
Product Concept
Shifting our perspective, we've reimagined the traditional website. Rather than viewing it as a complex, lengthy scroll, we now see it as a 2D canvas, a dynamic board where each section of the website is transformed into customizable widgets.
We changed the way we seeing things. Website became Board and Section became Widget
Value Propositions and Target Customer
Our target audience comprises those with very specific needs who seek to establish their digital presence without the need for extensive time and financial investment in website creation.
Widgets are designed to cater to a broad spectrum of users, offering a versatile solution that adapts to a range of needs:
1. Individuals
Whether you're an artist looking to showcase your portfolio, a blogger eager to share your thoughts, or someone wanting to create a personal gallery or bio page, Widgets provide an accessible platform for your creative and personal expressions.
2. Small and Medium-sized Enterprises (SMEs)
For businesses looking to efficiently display product information, essential business details, or contact information, Widgets offer a cost-effective solution to establish an online presence and reach your target audience.
3. Large Corporations
Even major corporations can leverage Widgets to demonstrate their brand identity, design boards, corporate resources, share statistical reports, or present a comprehensive one-page corporate bio. Widgets' adaptability makes it a valuable asset for corporate communication.
Market Opportunity
Players in the market
Several players are already serving the market with various solutions, including:
Link Tree: Offering a solution to consolidate multiple links into a single 'link in bio.'
Beacon AI: Providing similar services to Link Tree, streamlining social media profile links.
Social Networks: Existing social media platforms continue to thrive as places for content sharing.
Low Code/No Code Platforms: Tools like Framer, WordPress, and Webflow enable users to create websites with varying degrees of complexity.
These competitors demonstrate that the need for individuals and businesses to build their online presence has not waned. The market remains robust and ever-evolving.
So, where are we in the market?
The Trend in 2D Grid / Canvas Presentation Methods
